Hello there! 🙂
I’m thrilled you’ve landed here. My name is Caroline Peters but close friends like to call me Carrie. I’m a first generation Lao American woman. After the Vietnam War, my grandfather carried my family across the Mekong River in Laos to safety in Thailand. They were escaping bombs and turmoil. My mom was only a small child. My family raised me to appreciate the opportunities in America and to always dream…
Ever since I was a little girl, I loved sports. My dad would lure me to the sofa with nachos and from here I fell in love with the game. I dreamed of being the girl on the sidelines, delivering sports to the public. I admired how those charming characters held so many questions in the form of a microphone in one hand. I admired how quick-witted they could be. This led me on a path to become a sports reporter.
In the past, I’ve worked for West Virginia University’s Mountaineer Sports Network. This internship intensified my love for production. The feeling of technical directing a Men’s Basketball game during the, “Press Virginia,” season is incredible. I covered College GameDay at the WVU Coliseum…watching my “Eers fall to Kentucky… but still appreciating the chance to experience a Sweet 16.
My sports career allowed me to cover college football, indoor professional football and the Pittsburgh Steelers weekly pressers. But it was high school football I fell in love with the most. I admired the way these kids played for their small towns… the way the jersey represented something more than a game. Stories. These fields had so many generational stories.
After visiting many football fields, I felt fulfilled with my sports career. But the experiences I held ignited a passion in me for storytelling that continues to grow vigorously.
Currently, I live in Colorado and tell the stories of my community here. Colorado is a dream. I spend MOST of my time outdoors, hiking with my dog Mikko, paddleboarding, skiing or practicing my yoga skills. Heck, I even prefer to eat my meals outside. Life is too short and we are very blessed to live in this beautiful world. My love for nature has guided me to do stories on wolf reintroduction, sustainability and leaving no trace behind. I believe these stories can help ignite a passion in others to preserve our planet, and to coexist. ❤
In addition to the outdoors, I love to support local businesses. That is what inspired me to start my own small business, Colorado Social, a social media management company. I believe creative thinkers are the future and can make an industry blossom. The media industry as a whole takes a special type of character. It takes someone who is willing to write, edit, interview, and produce endlessly because an inner passion won’t let them stop. This is me, and this is who I want to be.
Quotes I live by.
“Let us love one another, for love, comes from God.”
1 John 4:7
“Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.”
Henry Ford
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because in the end those who matter don’t mind, and those who mind don’t matter.”
Dr. Seuss
